As you are likely aware, the COVID-19 Coronavirus strain is making its way around the world. At Royal Oak Optometry, we are taking steps to help prevent the spread of the virus to help protect our patients, staff, and the community.

If you have an upcoming appointment and are feeling unwell…

If you are feeling unwell with symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, sneezing, or difficulty breathing, or you have been in contact with people experiencing these symptoms, please refrain from visiting our office.

Please contact us to let us know you are unable to attend your appointment as we will happily accommodate you to reschedule for a minimum of 14 days after you present with symptoms.

If you are experiencing an ocular emergency AND are feeling unwell, please call ahead to inform us of your symptoms so that we may take necessary precautions. One of our doctors may also be able to assist you by phone, or you can email images of the eye (if appropriate) to reception@royaloakoptometry.com for a remote medical consult.

What we are doing

We have implemented heightened cleaning regimens within the office, including frequent disinfection of frequently touched surfaces and we have added additional hand disinfectant dispensers throughout the clinic. Our team is keeping up with updates from Health Canada to ensure that we are taking appropriate precautions as new information becomes available.

What you can do if visiting Royal Oak Optometry

If you are visiting Royal Oak Optometry, we ask that you help keep the environment as safe as possible for our other patients as we have a large number of elderly patients who are at an increased risk of suffering serious effects should they contract COVID-19 or even the common flu.

Upon arrival at our clinic, we ask that you disinfect your hands by washing and/or by using hand sanitizer which is readily available throughout the clinic. Please repeat this process should you touch your eyes, nose, or mouth.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
