April 22 is Earth Day. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970,Earth Day events in more than 193 countries are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.
This year the campaign is focusing on to securing a future free of plastic pollution! From poisoning and injuring marine life to disrupting human hormones, from littering our beaches and landscapes to clogging our waste streams and landfills, the exponential growth of plastics is now threatening the survival of our planet.
So what do you do with your old acetate or plastic frames if your prescription changes?
Never discard your old eyeglasses! Bring them in to Royal Oak Optometry. We will donate your old glasses to the Lions Club. The Club then catalogues them and distributes them to various charity organizations who help individuals all over the world in underprivileged neighbourhoods or developing countries.
Saving the world from discarded plastic, and helping those in need all at the same time!

Hello,
I have a number of prescription glasses that I’d like to donate. Do you still accept these donations, or have any suggestions for where in Victoria I can donate? Thanks!
