Dry eye happens when your eyes don’t make enough tears or when your tears dry up too fast. It often feels like burning, itching, or constant irritation. If you’re dealing with these symptoms, it’s time to build a consistent dry eye routine for daily relief. Finding the right treatment takes time. But a simple, daily routine can bring lasting comfort. Follow these three easy steps and learn what to avoid—plus, when it’s necessary to see one of our optometrists.
Dry Eye Routine For Daily Relief
Step 1: Cleansing Your Eyelids
Eyelid hygiene is the first step to your dry eye routine for daily relief, yet often overlooked. We recommend using Blephadex™ Foam or Eyelid Wipes. Both products contain a patented mix of tea tree and coconut oils that clean, soothe, and moisturize.
Blephadex™ Foam helps remove bacteria and Demodex mites—common causes of blepharitis and dry eyes. Use it to gently cleanse your eyelids each day.
In need of a quick option? Try Blephadex™ Eyelid Wipes. They’re easy to use and help keep your eyelids clean and refreshed in one easy step.
Step 2: Massage With Warm Compress
A warm compress helps unclog oil glands and improve moisture flow. This is a key part of your dry eye routine for daily relief.
We suggest using the Blepha EyeBag® or another microwaveable eye compress. Heat it for 10–30 seconds until warm (not hot). Then, place it on your closed eyes. Add light pressure with your fingers and gently massage in a circular motion for 3 to 10 minutes. Massaging supports oil flow and can improve comfort over time. It’s a powerful part of your dry eye routine.
Step 3: Hydrate and Soothe
Finish your dry eye routine for daily relief by staying hydrated inside and out. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and apply preservative-free eye drops such as Thealoz® Duo, HYLO®, and HYLO® GEL, once or twice a day.
Dry Eye Irritants You Should Avoid
Your dry eye routine works best when you avoid common irritants. Watch out for:
- Excess screen time
- Dry or windy environments
- Smoke and strong perfumes
- Rubbing your eyes
When is a Dry Eye Consultation Necessary?
If your dry eye symptoms don’t improve, book a dry eye consultation. One of our specialist can examine your eyes and recommend a personalized dry eye treatment plan.
